PROARQ courses are held Monday through Thursday during daytime hours. Exceptionally, some courses may also be available on Fridays. The Doctoral Program within the Postgraduate Program in Architecture (PROARQ) at UFRJ features a curriculum structure that combines mandatory courses, electives, and research activities, totaling 450 hours. Of these, up to 135 hours may be transferred from a Master's Program.

ELECTIVE COURSES

Doctoral students may take up to 90 hours of elective courses outside of PROARQ.

Doctoral Enrollment
This course does not have defined credit hours. It consists of the development of thesis research development, supervised by the advisor. The advisor must assess the student’s progress quarterly until the qualification stage. Doctoral students must enroll in this course each term before qualification, Once no further coursework remains.

Thesis
Research
This course does not have predefined credit hours and involves supervision between the advisor and the student for thesis guidance. It must be updated quarterly by the advisor in the student’s academic record after qualification and upon completion of all required coursework. Doctoral students must enroll in this course each term after qualification, until the dissertation defense.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • The Research Methodology course is mandatory for Master’s students, but not for Doctoral students.
  • Courses with a 700 code are for Master's students, while those with an 800 code are for Doctoral students.
