UNDER MAINTENANCE

PROARQ courses are held Monday through Thursday duringdaytime houes. Exceptionally, some courses may also be offered on Fridays. The Doctoral Program within the Postgraduate Program in Architecture (PROARQ) at UFRJ features a curriculum structure that combines mandatory courses, electives, and research activities, totaling 450 hours. Of these, up to 135 hours may be transferred from a Master's Program.

ELECTIVE COURSES

Master’s students are permitted to take up to 90 hours of elective courses outside of PROARQ.

Special Topics in Architecture II – 45 hours / 3 credits
Special Topics in Architecture III – 45 hours / 3 credits

Doctoral Enrollment
This course does not have defined credit hours. It consists of the development of the dissertation research under the supervision of the advisor. It must be graded by the advisor each term until the student qualifies. Doctoral candidates must enroll in this course every term prior to qualification, when no other coursework remains.

Dissertation Research
This non-credit course involves close collaboration between the advisor and the student for the development of the dissertation. It must be updated quarterly in the student’s academic record by the advisor, after the student has qualified and completed all required coursework. Enrollment in this course is mandatory every term following qualification until the dissertation defense.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • The Research Methodology course is mandatory for Master’s students, but not for Doctoral students.
  • Courses numbered in the 700s are part of the Master’s program, while those in the 800s belong to the Doctoral program.
