DOCTORAL CURRICULUM STRUCTURE

Total Course Load: 450 hours.​
Mandatory Courses (4): Total of 180 hours, consisting of the following courses: seminars, advanced research I, advanced research II, and directed studies.
Elective Courses (3): Total of 135 hours.
Master's Degree Credit Transfer: It is possible to transfer 135 hours from the master's program, reducing the total course load to 315 hours. This transfer is automatically recorded in the academic transcript.

SUPERVISED INTERNSHIP

Course Load: 45 hours (3 credits).​
Duration: ​Must be completed over two semesters.
Scholarship Holders: ​Allowed to transfer 45 hours in only one internship.
Non-Scholarship Holders: May substitute one elective course.

ELECTIVE COURSES

  • Doctoral students may take up to 90 hours in elective courses outside PROARQ.
  • All elective courses offered by PROARQ have 45 hours (3 credits).

Course without established credit hours, involving the advisor and student in thesis guidance. Updated quarterly by the advisor in the student’s transcript after qualification and course completion. The doctoral student must enroll each term until defense (no credits, no classroom attendance).

Research in Architecture. Guidelines for developing research projects. Thesis project development guidance, conducted in the first trimester, with faculty participation (classroom attendance – 45h / 3 credits).

Directed studies on the student's thesis content, under the responsibility of the advisor. A research progress report must be presented before qualification, containing a complete chapter or partial ideas of the final thesis product (no classroom attendance – 45h / 3 credits).

Preparation and publication of a scientific article related to the doctoral thesis before qualification. The article may be published in proceedings of an international or national event (full paper), a book chapter, or a journal (no classroom attendance – 45h / 3 credits).

Preparation and publication of a scientific article related to the doctoral thesis before qualification. The article may be published in proceedings of an international or national event (full paper), a book chapter, or a journal (no classroom attendance – 45h / 3 credits).

  • For master's students, the Research Methodology course is mandatory. For doctoral students, it is not.
  • Courses with code 700 are for the master's program, and courses with code 800 are for the doctoral program.
