14th PROARQ RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM – ARCHITECTURE AND EMERGENCIES
In this event, PROARQ has the opportunity to explore and discuss the importance of architecture in the face of emergencies—whether natural disasters, humanitarian crises, or the dilemmas posed by digitalization, artificial intelligence, and the future of design practice. Architecture plays a vital role in creating safe, functional, and sustainable spaces capable of sheltering and supporting those experiencing critical and challenging situations.
As we gather here, we seek to promote a humanized and compassionate perspective in response to current and future societal challenges. We recognize that, beyond meeting basic needs, architecture in these contexts must go further—offering comfort and dignity to those affected. Our intention is to share experiences, knowledge, and initiatives that place the human being at the center of the design and construction process.
Throughout this Colloquium, through lectures, debates, workshops, and the exchange of ideas, we hope to stimulate collective reflection on how architecture can contribute to the promotion of well-being, social integration, and community resilience during times of emergency.
We invite everyone to participate actively by sharing your perspectives, experiences, and suggestions. Together, we believe that through dialogue, knowledge exchange, and empathy, we can build more effective and inclusive solutions, expanding the positive impact that architecture can have on people’s lives.
