Ethel Pinheiro is "Young National Scientist of Rio de Janeiro -FAPERJ" and CNPq National researcher. Architect and Urban Planner, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism/UFRJ (enrolled in 2006). She graduated in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2001) - with Magna Cum Laude. MSc. in Architecture (2004) and PhD in Architecture (2010), both from the Postgraduate Program in Architecture - PROARQ/UFRJ. Head of the Postgraduate Program in Architecture (PROARQ) of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (from 2020 to 2024), permanent professor at PROARQ and Ad hoc reviewer for national and international funding agencies, in addition to being a member of Scientific Committees in indexed Journals. Works as Chief Editor of the Journal CADERNOS PROARQ (since 2014) and coordinated the Adjunct Editorial Commission of PROARQ (2014-2019). As a member of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism she worked as Press Coordinator (2014-2018) and Coordinator of Final Graduation Studios (2018-2019). Research partner of ENSA-Grenoble through a technical-scientific cooperation agreement signed between UFRJ and the foreign institution. Ad hoc reviewer for national and international funding agencies, in addition to being a member of Scientific Committees in indexed Journals. Permanent advisor in some Evaluation Committees (FAPERJ, FAPESP, Fundo Mackenzie). She has also accumulated prizes in Architecture competitions, having dedicated years of professional experience in executive projects and set design. Areas of interest: representation, urban space planning and design, coded drawing, drawing and currently addressing the following topics in academic research: urban environments, urban design, memory, perception of the environment, contemporary city and culture.
