The present work is the product developed in the master thesis of Project and Heritage in PROARQ/UFRJ, whose main objective is to foster the heritage awareness in the local community and in the visitors through initiatives that promote new uses and greater interaction between patrimonial assets and local community, aiming at to investigate and elaborate a project that articulates the patrimonial assets along the route of the railway line, as a way of boosting a community tourism and to narrow the relations of the local population with the national park of Serra dos Orgãos and other heritage assets. After the decommission of the rail transport caused by a public policy of roadside. It is necessary to think of integrated solutions for communities that still exist along the railways. In the case of Barreira in Guapimirim, the presence of relevant historical context strengthens the urge to think about a route that takes advantage of the railway path, connecting to the Serra dos Órgãos National Park, Guapimirim and that promoting greater heritage awareness.
