The Brazilian modern heritage has an important architectural collection, which represents a phase of extreme importance for the country. The conservation and preservation of modern buildings is a challenge that the field of heritage faces, due, among other factors, to the lack of studies in this area. Besides, there are few studies focused on the field of vibrations and their impacts on protected heritage. Due to this situation, the general objective of the work is to analyze the effects of the vibrations on the Pavilion Arthur Neiva, a building registered by INEPAC. Named originally as Pavilhão de Cursos, it is composed of sensitive spaces that perform activities that demand concentration and silence, but it's located next to Avenida Brasil, an expressway with an intense flow that generates constant noises and vibrations. This work presents the analysis of vibration measurements produced by both the avenue and the air conditioning unit, located in the engine room of the Pavilion; and the analysis of the measurements of the Sound Pressure Levels of the environment. The dissertation is structured in five chapters, the first one responsible for introducing the principles and theories of restoration, and the current panorama of the preservation of modern architecture; the second places the reader in relation to the Fiocruz campus, where the Pavilion is located; the third presents its historical and architectural characteristics, as well as its structural, landscape and damage analyzes; the fourth chapter presents the analyzes, methodologies and measurement results; and the fifth presents a design proposal for the engine room. The results obtained through the measurements provided support for the intervention project, which proposed measures to mitigate these impacts.
