The centers of big cities have changed a lot over the years and the remaining eclectic buildings in these places end up losing their notoriety by staying in the shadows of the large buildings which have risen around them. This is the case of an eclectic building built in 1920s in the city center of Curitiba. Originally built to house a public health directory, it ended up housing several other functions over the years, and in the 1970s it started to house the Museum of Contemporary Art of Paraná – MAC-PR. Using this building which has historical value as a Museum of Contemporary Art is sort of contradictory, resulting in several interventions which mischaracterized it and block its maintenance. Thus, the objective of this work was to develop an intervention project, proposing a new program as well as a renewed image of the Museum, considerig contemporary views on its social role and perspectives of old-new dialogue, in a coherent way to improve the ambience of MAC-PR. To this end, it was executed: the survey of cadastral data and the history of the building; the analysis of the surroundings where the building is inserted; bibliographic research; developments of drawings which adequately represent the project. As a result, was developed an outbuilding project in contemporary architecture that contrasts with the eclecticism of the heritage building with the aim of renewing the image of this museum and contributing to the debate on the oldnew theme.
