This paper addresses the relationship between accessibility and revitalization of buildings erected in historic areas. For the connection to theoretical - conceptual fundaments, it aims to answer the following question: How is accessibility adapted to the historically- and culturallyvalued buildings and how can architecture go beyond the traditional proposal of accessibility to physical environments? It intends to question the process of adaptation of cultural monuments regarding the implementation of accessible routes in designs for the architecture of buildings that have cultural value so as to identify how such routes alter the environmental setting and how such interventions can contribute to a better relationship between users and buildings related to sensory conditions. The methodology is divided into three stages; the first is the study of three groups: Group 1 - References to physical aspects of architecture related to the erected buildings and adaptation to accessibility for disabled people; Group 2 - References to the subjective aspects of architecture; Group 3 - Presentation of architectural projects designed to intervene in the historic building where there have been clear concerns about accessibility. The second stage is the research on the study case at the Benjamin Constant Institute - IBC. The third stage applies the tool known as commented routes. As a final product, the intervention project is presented as a practical exercise whose goal is to reach the best accessibility associated with the best condition for the public, especially the visually impaired, so that they can enjoy the best conditions of environmental perception, with landscape preparation of outdoors areas and development of more comfortable and safer routes.
