This thesis aims to develop the theme of temporary artistic-architectural interventions as a way of heritage's enhancement through proposals for the Praça Tiradentes, located in Centro, Rio de Janeiro. The region of study has recognized architectural, historical and cultural value, also for its artistic character due to the presence of cultural centers and theaters that naturally attract an audience that seeks a unique experience of the city. To develop proposals, issues of historical, morphological and form of the urban environment and their use were raised. Based on the reflection on contemporary art, based especially on the concepts of the author Miwon Kwon, "site specific phenomenology" and "site oriented" structures that explore an interpretation of the physical relations of the patrimonial buildings in their context of the place character are projected, its genius loci and its cultural significance today, that to transform the relationship between people and space, in order to enhance the Praça Tiradentes as a Site of Memory. Considering that artistic-architectural interventions have the ability to modify the dynamics of the environment in which they are inserted, stimulating through them the perception, appropriation and critical look of people over space, it is believed that the presence of contemporary art and architecture in a patrimonial space such as Praça Tiradentes, can generate attributes that attract the eye, awakening a reflection about its possibilities of transformation, affirming and reinventing the meaning of the place.

Keywords: Temporary interventions, Site specific, Heritage, Sites of Memory.
