Professional Master Degree Dissertation
The main subject of this work is about sustainability when is applied to restore industrial architecture inheritance. The objective is to ensure the rules covering sustainability issues that should be applied in restoring the Main Building of the Companhia Petropolitana, located in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This work is based on concepts and rules set up by IPHAN and as methodology makes a study of the building and follows up its historical course since its foundation until today, observing inter-relations along with the surrounding areas and verifying deterioration conditions trough observance, bibliography and site research, and map out building deterioration. As a result, this work will propose the use of regulations and occupation of internal and external areas, regarding rehabilitation, preservation, memory and sustainability of its inheritance.
