The main objective of this research is the analysis and intervention in the settings of the Convento São Bernardino de Sena, with a purpose to restoring conditions of fruition and perception of the ambiences in this monument. Although the cultural asset in question is of great importance to the landscape identity of the city of Angra dos Reis, the density of its setting, characterized by irregular occupations, interferes negatively in its perception and fruition by the inhabitants of the city. Thus, the question that led to the present study is related to the possible meanings and interferences that the immediate settings of monuments can assume. Therefore, from a brief analysis of the concepts of ambience and obsolescence, analyzes were carried out that based the proposal of delimitation and guidelines for the setting of the Convento São Bernardino de Sena, besides to urban interventions in its accesses.
